External Links
This page lists external links that we, the librarians on staff, have found helpful. We hope that you
do, too.
- The American Library Association has
information about freedom of speech, careers as a librarian and world libraries in general.
- Babelfish allows you
translate texts between dozens of different languages. Great to hunt down exactly what foreign phrases mean.
- Congress has one of the most
useful portals on the web. You can search for information about specific bills, or gather information
about your representative or senator.
- The Gutenberg Project gives
you access to over 17,000 free books. You won’t find bestsellers here, but you read any number of
classics with a few clicks.
- For statistical information
nothing beats the census. You can search by state or zip code, and make maps that detail every
conceivable statistical category.
If you have suggestions about other useful links please tell us. We take readers’ ideas very seriously.
