Electronic Resources

These resources can help you do research for an assignment, touch up a family photo album, or chat with your long-lost aunt via instant messaging. All services are available free of charge to patrons with a valid library card. Space is limited, though, so come early!

Databases:

LexisNexis – a service that lets you search thousands of newspapers, magazines, and trade journals, as well as do some legal and business research. Very user friendly.
Simmons Choice3the marketing database. Do people who eat Snickers consider themselves grumpy or cheerful? What magazines do people who buy radios read? Find out anything about any consumer group with a few clicks.

Instant Messaging:

Thousands of people chat every day via instant messaging (IM) services, so why not join them? Our high-speed network allows you to connect via Yahoo, Microsoft or ICQ. We’ll even show you how to set up an account.

Software:

DreamWeaver – your ticket to fame. Sort of. Dreamweaver allows you to create your own webpages and show yourself to the world.
Fireworks – design banners, logos, or other graphics, either for the web or for your own edification.
Photoshop – the ultimate tool for digital images. You can crop them, sharpen them, or take out the faces of those relatives that you never really liked.
