Evaluating Web and Internet Sources
1 of 18

This online instructional unit will teach you how to evaluate web and internet sources. This exercise should take you 8-10 minutes to complete.

It is important to understand the value of a source before depending upon it and using it in your work. Not all information is reliable, authoritative, accurate, objective or timely. There is virtually unlimited information available on the internet. Be selective and ask questions! For this exercise you should have a basic understanding of the internet and searching on the internet.

For our first scenario, we go to Google (www.google.com), one of the most widely know internet search engines, and type “influenza” into the search box and click “Google Search” for results.

google search

Click the "Next" arrow below to go to the next page of the tutorial. If you would like to view live results of the "influenza" search on the internet, you may click "Google Search" above, but then please click "back" to return to and continue the tutorial.
